September 1995 Newsletter

This newsletter contains the following sections:

Chairman's Introduction

Well another year is upon us and yet again we have the predictable beautiful Welsh countryside and unpredictable, often challenging Welsh weather to look forward to!

If you are joining the club for the first time, welcome and I look forward to seeing you on the walks and socials run by the club. If however you are an old and trusted member joining the club for yet another year, then you must remember how good it feels to get into a quiet pub and sink a couple of pints and perhaps a couple more until by the end of the night walking is the furthest thing from your mind.

There are walks of varying standards run each week and regular weekends away. These are a good opportunity to walk further afield and are always good for a laugh and a piss-up. Above all the rams is about getting away from it all and enjoying yourself.

If you have any queries please don't hesitate to contact a committee member at the addresses below or by leaving a note on the club board. (If we are not found at these addresses, committee members can often be found in the corner of any local pub/bar).

Colin

Committee 1995 - 1996

Chairman: Colin Evans

Decides in which bar the committee meeting will take place.

Vice chairman: Tim Bigg

Looks after all the equipment and books the transport.

Treasurer: Mark Bishop

Looks after the clubs money (and is the ringleader in all Water fights!).

Secretary: Rachel Tuckett

Keeps a record of all mischievous behaviour on ram's outings, takes the minutes, and books the accommodation

Social Secretary: Nicola Joules

Organise all our get-togethers by giving the organisation prior warning of our arrival.

Publicity Secretary: Melissa Hart

Advertises all the walks by colourful scribbles on the notice board.

Note: Due to the fact that Rachel and Nicola are jet-setting off to Europe in September, these two positions are now up for grabs for any new or old members to fill. There will be elections later this term for these positions and a first-year reps.

Social Programme Winter 1995

Meet the committee and bowling.
A chance for old and new members to meet, drink lots of beer, and then try out their skills in the bowling alley - a free pint to anyone who manages to get a strike in the wrong lane!

18th October

First Year Reps/New Exec meeting.
If you feel you could make a valuable contribution to the club (and sort out the rest of the committee) then come along.

Usually ends up in the bar because at least everyone can find their way there! Also this week there will be a meeting about the weekend away to Cadair Idris.

31st October

A chance to buy new gear at discount prices or just daydream about the things you'd like to buy.

15th November

An extremely popular event throughout the university. A really excellent Social event.

22nd November

Meeting for the New Forest weekend away and visit to the VICEROY - the best curry house in town.

7th December

RAMS Christmas Dinner Dance, THE social of the year, NOT to be missed.
This highlight of the social calendar takes place at Oxwich Bay Hotel and is an opportunity for everyone to dress up in their smartest gear and dance the night away. (Remember to save your brussel sprouts to throw at Colin when delivering his speech).
