Upcoming Social Event

A little advance notice: Our next official social will be the Annual General Meeting (Feb 19th) where all the committee is replaced (bar international reps). If you'd like to contribute in keeping the club running, then please get in touch with one of the current committee. As virtually the entire committee will finish university this year, we'll need new faces to take the club to pastures new. You'll be able to choose where you want to go exploring! What weekends away would you do?? There will also be refreshments provided on the night, so come along and have your say (even if you don't stand).

Next Walk - Rhinogs and South Snowdonia Weekend Away - February 8th-10th

This weekend away has been incredibly popular, and the 12 places are now full. However, there is a reserve list if you'd like to get in touch (with phone number), so if anyone drops out (like the last weekend away) then you'll be able to come. For those who didn't make it onto the list, please don't despair. Not only do we have have a lovely walk planned for the following weekend, but we also have another weekend away coming up shortly. This one is to the Peak District. The long weekend in Easter is also to Snowdonia National Park and we'll signup people closer to the time for those.

Upcoming Walk - Pen Allt Mawr - Feb 16th

We're starting signup for this walk this week. This hike is in the Brecon Beacons and not only gives plentiful views, but it has also been a snowy walk on the last three times it has been run! Hopefully this run of luck will continue! The photos below are from two of these walks.

Last Hike's Recap

February got off to an excellent start, with beautiful sunshine and blue skies accompanying us on our Usk Reservoir hike. A brisk winter's day, with the odd patch of ice, was the perfect way to blow away any cobwebs and brighten up the weekend. We managed a good hour and a half in the pub at the end, after covering 10 miles (16km) with 436m of ascent and 527m of descent.

The images show Pen y Fan and Corn Du off in the distance, covered in snow which hopefully will be replicated on our Pen Allt Mawr hike!

For more information, please checkout our website here or our facebook page here.

Pickups for day hikes are: 9am Uplands (outside Sainsburys), 9:05am Student Village (at the bus stop on the main road, opposite Carvery) and 9:15am outside Fulton House. Please remember to bring the hiking basics of food, drink, waterproof jacket, warm layers etc on all day hikes. We aim to return to Swansea by 7-8pm.

We have walk sign-ups every Wednesday and Friday 12:30-1:30pm on the Coffee side of JCs. Come along and join us, they're also perfect for mini-socials!
